It’s Not Your S.O. Liking Someone’s Picture That’s Hurting You

Infidelity is never a good thing. This page will never advocate for it or justify it, but I do have one issue with how society tried to teach me about trust and infidelity.

Far too often, we hear the phrase “My S.O. liked that person’s picture.”

And far too often, this means that the S.O. is now in trouble and needs to be taught a lesson. But why?

It’s not liking the photo thats the issue. It’s the fact that the person can’t trust their S.O. to like someone’s photo and not cheat.

I have had several friends in relationships like people’s photos online. People in relationships are allowed to have friends. They are allowed to appreciate pictures. Yes, the content of these pictures may make them more or less acceptable, but just because “Joe liked Taylor’s photo yesterday” doesn’t mean, he is trying to cheat.

And if you have reason to suspect that he is, then it might be time to end the relationship. Telling someone to not like a photo will not cure the potential infidelity waiting to happen.

If someone won’t be faithful, the sad truth is that you can’t make them.

You also don’t want to. If they don’t want the same exclusivity and they don’t respect you enough to tell you what they are doing, then they aren’t good enough for you.

It’s hard to end a relationship no matter how long it’s lasted or how well you know the person. It’s not going to be something easy to do, but its going to ultimately hurt you a lot less than constantly tracking their likes and their every move.

Get you someone who you can like pictures with together, not feel like you’re their supervisor waiting to get them in trouble. Don’t be that one lunch monitor in elementary school. You know, the strict one.

Feel free to comment your personal stories and let me know what you think. What do you think will help people facing this issue in their relationships?
